Welcom Software Group scores with Harrogate Railway sponsorship dealBoth companies are part of the Welcom Software Group, founded in Harrogate in 1978. The Group has always aimed to support the local community and is delighted to reinforce this commitment by its new association with the club. Harrogate Railway’s new Chairman, Rob Northfield, also heads up 2inspire and brings the leadership and motivational skills that have recently reinvigorated the football club to business leaders across the UK through his inspirational leadership and development programmes. Rob is originally from London, having grown up in the East End, but has had links with the Yorkshire region for many years. His sporting connections are many and include an early apprenticeship as a player with Chelsea which was ended by injury and saw him making a successful move into business. As head of a highly successful franchise of Dale Carnegie training, Rob has motivated and inspired many businesses including Leeds United FC. Rob sees his investment in Harrogate Railway as the perfect way for him to combine his enthusiasm for sport and his commitment to the local community. He has recently outlined plans to develop Railway’s Station View site, with proposals including affordable housing and Astroturf pitches, all of which he foresees providing a benefit to the surrounding community of Starbeck. Nigel Corp, Chief Operating Officer of the Welcom Software Group, said “We are delighted to underline the Group’s support for the community through our sponsorship of Harrogate Railway. By investing in advertising at the ground and funding 2inspire’s sponsorship of the team shirts, we can give a bit back to the town that has been Welcom’s home for almost 30 years”. In response to the Welcom Software Group’s investment, Rob commented that “this sponsorship deal is the biggest in the history of Harrogate Railway and is therefore a significant step towards helping the club achieve its commercial goals”. Harrogate Railway are currently flying high after a 3-2 victory against Matlock Town in the 3 rd qualifying round of the FA cup. Due to a quirk of the draw, Railway have been drawn to play against their neighbours Harrogate Town in the next round, in a local derby that is sure to bring great excitement to the town on 27th October. They have made a slightly bumpy start to the league, but hope that Rob’s confidence and investment in the club will inspire them to greater results.
